Abu da Don is an artist from North West Nashville, Bordeaux to be exact. The former D1 athlete attended Tennessee State University where he played football. Abu started off hosting at the age of 15. As a child he was very involved in music playing various instruments from the alto sex to guitar to the drums. The thought of being an artist never crossed his mind until quarantine. He was in the studio with Warren Kashh and SpiffyBoyDanny and everything popped off from there.

Describe Your Upcoming Project “Civil War”

The new project is me really finding my sound. I was able to see how the last album was and elevate. I got a mix of songs on there. I have love songs, songs for the ladies, songs you can play in the club, car, or just vibe to. Civil War is a project that I truly enjoyed making because it truly let me express myself and have fun. Everyone featured I have bonded with and built relationships with on a music aspect as well as a personal aspect. I ended up naming it Civil War because I was originally going to drop it in January back when all the chaos was going on. Everything that was going on in the US and the different sides was the influence for the title because of the 2 different vibes I’m giving with the song selection.

What was it that pushed you to start taking music serious

I truly started having fun. To actually be able to take something serious that you love and have a passion for has always been my goal. So I ended up putting a studio in the crib and went to work! Spiffy pulls up all the time to cook up beats so constantly having someone around pushing me to be great is also a big reason why I ended up going harder.

If you were to collab with 3 producers in the game who would it be & why?

Bandplay! Krashmax! TurnmeupYC!

All of them have unique sounds and I know I would kill that hoe!

Describe what makes your sound different than others

I am influenced by a lot of artist and I put my own spin on all of them and make it my own. My first album I felt like I was trynna fit in to a certain sound and it was cool but with this album I was able to grow into my own and I know everyone will fuck with it.

How big are you on the business side of music & what are some things you can do to learn more about it

I am a business man first. The business side is very important and I don’t know everything but I'm not scared to ask questions. So, I am constantly learning. If i get the opportunity to sign a deal I know I will have to learn a lot more but as of right now I am just learning as I go.

What are some things you have coming up for the rest of the year?

The “No Hook” series! I am going to push them like crazy for sure! Also have a song coming out with my boy DaviiesMusic from Nigeria
